Dan Friedman Tremendous. The premise might seem trivial or even silly at first, but this album rewards repeated listening with surprising depth.

Jascha Narveson I love the idea of a bag's-eye-view recording of airport baggage-check so much. As advertised, these really are accidental electroacoustic compositions, full of drama and dynamic changes. Each one is a hellscape of sudden crunching thuds mixed with muffled howls of engines and other machines. JFK might be my fave, but i love 'em all. Okaland has a nice quiet moment where you can hear the rollers... Favorite track: New York (JFK).

about

Created in 2023 from non-transformed, unedited, original recordings done with a portable audio recorder running inside checked-in baggage going through the multiple conveyor belts of –inaccessible and unknown– baggage handling systems of several main airports in the US (thus turned into man-made, unintentional acousmatic environments).

Mastered at ‘Hundred Islands Studios’ (Rosclave enclave).

Headphone listening highly recommended.

[Note: occasional distortion in this piece is an aesthetic decision and is explicitly intentional; its extent and characteristics will vary according to the speakers/headphones used]

Many thanks to Barbara Ellison, Scott Konzelmann, Fabio Roberti, Stephan Moore, Jake Smith, Brad West, Mykel Boyd, Ben Billington, Zev Greenfield, Jackson Kovalchik, Steve Peters, Amy Denio, Michael Gendreau, Naut Humon, Alaric, Scott Arford, Don Campau, Daniel Canogar, Tim Leanse, Greh Holger, GX Jupitter-Larsen, Alan Poma, Alejandra Molina, Kelly Sicat, Judy Dennis, Amy Zullo, Patrick Ip, Emily Borchers.
